Source: https://docs.graph8.com/ai-features/copilot/

Copilot is graph8's built-in AI assistant. Ask questions in natural language and Copilot searches your CRM, looks up contacts, checks deal status, manages sequences, runs web searches, and navigates the app - all from a chat sidebar.

## Opening Copilot

Click the **Copilot** icon in the top navigation bar to open the chat sidebar. Copilot is available from any page in graph8.

## Chat Modes

Copilot operates in five modes, each optimized for different tasks:

| Mode | What It Does | When to Use |
|------|-------------|-------------|
| **Global** | General questions, strategy guidance, CRM lookups | Day-to-day questions about your pipeline and data |
| **Document** | Specialized editing with skill-matched AI | When working on campaign documents in Studio |
| **Web Search** | Pull live data from the internet | When you need current market data or company news |
| **Thinking** | Extended reasoning with step-by-step logic | Complex analysis or multi-factor decisions |
| **Research** | Dual-provider search (company + general) | Deep research on prospects, competitors, or markets |

Toggle **Web Search** on to include live internet results in Copilot responses. Enable **Thinking Mode** for complex, multi-step reasoning.

## Context Modes

Copilot runs in one of five context modes. It switches automatically based on the page you're on, or you can toggle manually:

| Mode | Optimized For | Example |
|------|-------------|---------|
| **General** | Cross-functional questions, campaigns, analytics | "How are our campaigns performing?" |
| **Contacts** | Contact lookup, company intelligence, ICP fit | "Find decision makers at Acme" |
| **Deals** | Pipeline management, at-risk deals, stage updates | "What deals are stalling?" |
| **Inbox** | Email management, mailbox health, chat history | "Show me unread emails" |
| **Sequencer** | Sequence stats, pause/resume, step editing | "How is the Q2 sequence doing?" |

Each mode unlocks different tools. For example, sequence step editing is only available in Sequencer mode, while deal creation is available in Deals and General modes.

When you're viewing a campaign document in Studio, Copilot switches to a specialized skill automatically. See [Studio Copilot →](https://docs.graph8.com/studio/copilot/) for details.

## Available Tools

Copilot uses built-in tools to take actions on your behalf:

| Category | What Copilot Can Do |
|----------|-------------------|
| **Contacts** | Search, view details, find contact's deals and company |
| **Companies** | Look up signals, engagement, ICP fit scores |
| **Deals** | List deals, check risk, create deals, update stages |
| **Lists** | Browse and create contact lists |
| **Campaigns** | List campaigns, view metrics, create and publish campaigns |
| **Sequences** | List, pause, resume, duplicate, view reports |
| **Inbox** | List emails, chats, mailboxes, manage tags |
| **Calendar** | Check today's meetings and schedule |
| **Phone** | Look up phone numbers and assignments |
| **Enrichment** | Look up person or company data on demand |
| **Navigation** | Navigate to any page in graph8 |
| **Knowledge Base** | Search your org's knowledge base documents |
| **Documents** | Create, update, and manage campaign documents |
| **Landing Pages** | Edit landing page content via chat |
| **Analytics** | Call analytics, visitor activity, dialer sessions |
| **Voice Agents** | List agents and view capabilities |

### Approval Gates

Some actions require your confirmation before Copilot executes them:

| Action | Why Approval Is Needed |
|--------|----------------------|
| **Create a contact list** | Organizational change |
| **Publish a campaign** | Sends real outreach |
| **Delete a document** | Destructive action |

When approval is needed, Copilot shows a confirmation dialog. Click **Approve** to proceed or **Cancel** to stop.

## Copilot Memory

Copilot remembers context across your conversations. As you interact, it builds memory at four levels:

| Scope | What It Stores | Example |
|-------|---------------|---------|
| **Org** | Shared knowledge across your team | Company positioning, brand voice preferences |
| **User** | Your personal preferences and patterns | Preferred tone, common requests |
| **Campaign** | Campaign-specific context | Target audience notes, messaging decisions |
| **Company** | Company-specific intelligence | Key stakeholders, deal history |

You don't need to repeat instructions - Copilot uses past context to provide more relevant responses over time.

## @Mentions and Collaboration

Type `@` followed by a team member's name to mention them in a Copilot conversation. Mentioned users receive a notification and can join the session.

Share chat sessions with your team for collaborative planning and strategy discussions.

## Credits

Each Copilot interaction consumes credits. Credit cost depends on the complexity of the action:

- **Simple lookup** - 1 credit
- **Web search** - additional credits per search query
- **Multi-step actions** - credits scale with the number of tools used

Check your credit usage in **Settings → Billing → Usage**.

## Chat History and Sessions

All conversations are saved automatically. Manage your sessions:

- **Pin** important conversations so they stay at the top of your history
- **Rename** sessions for easy identification later
- **Delete** sessions you no longer need
- **Restore** previous sessions to continue where you left off

### Response Controls

For each Copilot response, you can:

- **Thumbs up / down** - rate the quality (helps improve future responses)
- **Regenerate** - retry the last response for a different angle
- **Copy** - copy the response text to your clipboard

## Copilot Bridge

Access Copilot from your everyday messaging apps - WhatsApp, Slack, Roam, and iMessage. See [Copilot Bridge →](https://docs.graph8.com/ai-features/bridge/) for setup instructions.

> **Tip:**
> Be specific in your questions. "Show me at-risk deals over $50K" gives better results than "How are my deals?" The more context you provide, the more targeted Copilot's response. Use web search mode when you need live data that isn't in your CRM.
