Survey Domain Status

/feedback/sending-domains/status

Whether the domain and its DKIM keys have verified yet.

Not a passive read: when the provider reports the domain verified, THIS call is what promotes it into GET /feedback/sending-domains. A caller that never polls can end up with a domain that verified upstream and still does not appear in the picker.

An open envelope for a verification result.

Open because the DNS record set grows: DMARC was added to it after SPF and DKIM, and closing the shape would have silently dropped the record that decides whether Gmail accepts the mail at all.
